Panama Independence Days

November · All of November (3 main dates) All of Panama (Panama City, Colón, Villa de Los Santos)

November is Panama's patriotic month, a period of national pride when the country celebrates three historic independence dates. November 3rd commemorates the separation from Colombia in 1903, which enabled the construction of the Panama Canal under its own sovereignty. November 10th remembers the First Cry of Independence from Villa de Los Santos in 1821, when the people rose against Spanish rule, marking the beginning of the independence movement. November 28th celebrates the formal independence from Spain in 1821. Throughout the month, cities dress in the colors of the Panamanian flag — red, blue, and white. Massive parades with school marching bands, fire departments, folk groups, and drum corps march through the main avenues. Panama City, Colón, and Villa de Los Santos host the largest celebrations, with official ceremonies, fireworks, and a palpable patriotic energy.
