International Fair of Azuero
The International Fair of Azuero is Panama's largest agricultural and cultural fair, held every April for ten days in Villa de Los Santos, the heart of the Azuero Peninsula — the region that best preserves the country's folk traditions. This fair combines rodeo shows with riders mounting wild bulls, cattle exhibitions of the finest breeds, and agricultural displays celebrating the richness of the Panamanian countryside. Stages come alive with típica music played on accordion, caja drum, and churuca, while folk groups perform dances such as the tamborito, cumbia, and el punto. Visitors can savor traditional dishes like sancocho, arroz con pollo, and chicha de maíz. The fair also features crafts, equestrian competitions, and concerts by national and international artists, making it the definitive showcase of Azuero's cultural identity.
